HikingThere are hiking options in Alta and nearby with enough variety in terrain for shorter hikes or all day adventures. Numerous high alpine lakes can be accessed from Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons and Millcreek Canyon. Our kitchen staff can prepare a boxed lunch for you if it is ordered the day before. A map of the different canyons and trail information can be found on Wasatch Hiker. Trails in Albion Basin can be accessed via the summer road that continues past the pavement at the end of the canyon. On weekends during the months of July, August and September free shuttle service is available to Albion Basin from the Albion Day Lodge. This facility has light refreshments and restrooms. According to The Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, there are 300 species commonly found in the Cottonwood Canyons. The Foundation hosts an annual Wasatch Wildflower Festival in July. This free event is open to the public. Photos on this page are from the following hikes: Maybird Lakes Cardiff Pass Red Pine Lake Catherine Pass |
